Stingrays name Under 16 squad

The  son of a  former AFL player and the brother of an AFL draft prospect figure in the Dandenong Stingrays Under 16 squad assembled for two exhibition matches.

The Rays will play Gippsland Power at Garfield at 12.30pm on Friday and Geelong Falcons on Sunday week at Werribee.

The group will  train   at Shepley Oval on Thursday afternoon.

Beaconsfield’s Kobe Shipp, the son of former Fremantle AFL player Andrew, has been named in the squad.

Shipp was drafted  from Springvale in the VFL and went on to play 35  games for the Dockers.

He had won the Fothergill-Round Medal in 1998.

Berwick’s Riak Andrew, the brother of Dandenong Stingrays ruckman Mac, is also in the squad.

Riak is playing  as a ruckman for the  strong South East Juniors Under 16 representative team, which is captained by fellow selection Jack Wilson.
